The Avid is constructed from multiple plies of glass composite bonded to A-grade kiln-dried hard maple using Cuetec's patent-pending construction and bonding process. The glass composite layers, each 0.75mm and oriented to maximize performance and durability, run the entire length of the shaft. Air Light Front-End Construction
Less front-end mass means less cue ball deflection. The Avid's Air Light front-end build uses the strength of the glass composite bonding construction to reduce mass in the section of the shaft closest to the tip, the area most responsible for deflection at impact.

The Avid uses a Super Straight Pro taper, a virtually zero-rise taper that maintains a consistent diameter for an extended section from the tip before gradually widening toward the joint. Choosing Your Avid Diameter
All three Avid diameters use the same glass composite construction and Air Light front-end build. The differences are in tip size and the playing characteristics each suits:
Avid 12.75mm — Most Forgiving, Natural Transition+
The 12.75mm matches the most common tip diameter found on standard production maple shafts. It is the most forgiving option in the Avid lineup and the easiest transition for players upgrading from a stock shaft for the first time. The larger contact area is more tolerant of slight miscues and suits players at all levels who want to improve their low-deflection performance without changing the diameter they're used to.
Avid 12.25mm — Balance of Power and Precision+
The 12.25mm sits between the 12.75mm and 11.75mm, a balanced option that trades a small amount of the 12.75mm's forgiveness for better tip placement precision. This is the diameter that Skyler Woodward plays on professionally, and suits intermediate to advanced players who want a versatile everyday shaft that performs across disciplines without demanding the accuracy a narrower tip requires.
Avid 11.75mm — Precision and Maximum Spin+
The narrowest Avid option at 11.75mm delivers the most precise tip placement and maximum spin generation in the lineup. Best suited for intermediate to advanced players who have developed consistent stroke mechanics and want greater cue ball control from a smaller contact area. The narrower diameter amplifies stroke precision, it rewards accuracy and is less forgiving of off-center hits than the 12.25mm or 12.75mm.
